America's Lost Vikings

America's Lost Vikings

The quest of archaeologists Blue Nelson and Mike Arbuthnot to find out how far Vikings explored into America is documented in this six-episode series. It begins in Newfoundland, Canada, on a settlement that purportedly holds proof the Vikings were there around the year 1000. As they follow the evidence trail, Blue and Mike go to extreme lengths to discover how the Viking explorers survived. To test theories, they plunge into freezing waters, row a specially constructed Norse boat through ice, and learn to fight with Viking weapons. Throughout their journey, the hosts use a combination of modern science and hands-on experimental archaeology, and they ultimately travel farther across America than they anticipated.
