Lost Secrets

Lost Secrets

People unknowingly possess objects that hold the key to unlocking hidden pasts and secret histories. These objects can be found in both private collections and museums. They can be found in homes where they take pride of place as beloved keepsakes passed down from one generation to the next. In Travel Channel's "Lost Secrets," historian Justin Jampol journeys around the world to unravel the mysteries of the past hiding within these family relics and museum pieces. Jampol makes a living out of distinguishing trash from treasure. For more than 20 years, he's been scouring the earth and collecting artifacts to bring back to the Wende Museum in Culver City, Calif. In the series, Jampol is presented with newly unearthed objects that propel his investigations into long-lost histories. These items include documents from Nazi commander Heinrich Himmler's archive, an ancient spindle whorl, a war medal, and a mysterious invoice written by abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
